SYMPTOMS

When you try to connect to AOL for the first time, you may receive one of the following error messages during step 6 ("Connecting to America Online"):

Note that your second dial-up attempt does work.

After you use AOL and you attempt to shut down your computer, your computer may not completely shut down. You may need to reset or restart your computer, but the main power button may not work.

RESOLUTION
According to AOL, the current workaround for this behavior is to install AOL version 6.0. Microsoft believes that this issue occurs because there is an error in the AOL 5.0 code. Currently, no fix has been posted by AOL.
